Bernard Hopkins stopped Segundo Mercado to win the world middleweight title.

Hopkins dominated Mercado before dropping him in the seventh round four months after the pair battled to a draw.

Hopkins, who became the first man to simultaneously hold all four belts, set a divisional record of 20 consecutive defenses.
