What a terrific fight last night between Colombian bantamweight (118 pounds) Oscar Negrete ( record 18-1) at 31 years of age and “The Professor” Joshua Franco (14-1) from Texas and age 22. The fight was broadcast live on ESPN ll, and promoted by Golden Boy.

These two determined fighters went at it hard for 10 rounds, both landing some great hard punches. There was alot of back and forth action with both guys having very good moments during the fight. I believed that overall Negrete threw the bigger heavier punches (and had more moments) and did more damage to Franco, and in the back of my mind I felt that he was going to get robbed by the judges becuase Franco is the young up-and-coming boxer with alot more upside. They both threw over a thousand punches in a terrific paced and exciting fight. After a tremendous 10 rounds where both guys layed it out on the line, I was pleased that the fight was ruled a draw. Great job by both fighters and I look forward to following Oscar Negrete and Joshua Franco as there careers unfold.
