Thanks to Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin has just gone from a future hall of famer and all time great middleweight to a Legend.

Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez have just accidentally made GGG a Legend of the highest order.

Canelo is the biggest superstar in boxing today. As with all Top stars from Sugar Ray Leonard to Floyd Mayweather, their two or three fights a year are carefully planned and in many cases agreed upon before they even win the coming up match.

Now let’s think about this:

As everybody knows Canelo’s  two prime fighting dates are May and September; those are the two Mexican holidays he took over from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Canelo is do to fight in less than four months. Canelo is the A-side to any current active boxer and he still has no opponent?

Think about the confusion Canelo and Oscar are creating so that they avoid GGG this year.

First, they end every paragraph and interview with, “we want the best fights”. When someone in control/ command always repeats the same thing, that’s called brainwashing.

Second, they are trying to confuse the writers and press so much they are talking about fighting opponents for September in FIVE different weight classes- that is confusion of the highest order.

Here’s the weight classes mentioned today:

147 – Errol Spence Junior

154 – Jaime Munguia

160 – Demetrius Andrade

168 – Saunders & Smith

175 – Sergey Kovalev

(what’s next? Calling out Mikey Garcia at 140 or better yet, Lomachenko at 135)

Be prepared to hear lots of big names if they continue to insist on boxers from 5 different weight classes. It’s funny how they keep saying GGG’s name and he’s ready for the big September Fight, but no contract discussions with him at all.

For a Team that prepares well in advance, it’s weird that they are acting like everything is wide open and that there is no plan for September yet.

Golden Boy has a good reputation of putting the best fights together, it seems like they want to fight an undefeated smaller (a 147/ 154 pounder) fighter at 160 and then permanently move up to 168.

I am already on record stating  Canelo vs GGG at 160 won’t happen again.
