41 Year old Adonis Stevenson got a severe traumatic brain injury after getting KO’d by Oleksandr Gvozdyk in the 11th round of the Light Heavyweight Championship fight broadcast live on Showtime hours before the Wilder/ Fury Fight. According to Doctor Alexis Turgeon of Quebec City Hospital, Stevenson requires mechanical respiratory assistance, deep sedation and specialized neurological monitoring. Stevenson is in the intensive care unit after receiving surgery the evening of the fight.
As we get ready for a hectic fight month this December including countless boxing cards this weekend from around the world, please keep Adonis Stevenson (Super-Man) and his family in your players as hopefully Stevenson makes a full recovery.
Stevenson was champion amazingly for almost 6 years and was the oldest world champion till he lost Saturday against Gvozdyk.
Thankfully Stevenson got medical attention quickly and is being monitored hopefully for a full recovery.
