Gennadiy Gennadyevich Golovkin Known to many boxing fans as Triple G has just finished negotiations and signed to fight Sergiy “The Technician” Derevianchenko for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world middleweight title. The fight will take place on October 5, in the big room at Madison Square Garden, New York.

GGG has made MSG his fighting home and Derevianchenko is also no stranger at fighting in the venue as well.

GGG’s critics seem to have placed the king of Mexican Stlye & Big Drama Show in a no win situation.

GGG made it clear he wanted to fight Canelo Alvarez again and was willing to fight him anywhere except Las Vegas. DAZN has Alvarez and GGG under contract and was hoping for a mega fight between the two stars on September 14th.

Canelo was adamant on moving on and not having a third fight with GGG which left him with no opponent for September. To make things worse, the move made DAZN look like an amateur at Boxing Scheduling and matchmaking.

Now that the IBF stepped up and stripped Canelo of the middleweight title for not being able to come to terms with Sergiy “The Technician” Derevianchenko, GGG has stepped up to take the fight and make the agreement with Derevanchenko and the PBC group that manages The Technician.

GGG Can’t Win:

If Triple G has a tough time with Derevianchenko, people will say he’s old. And if GGG knocks Derevianchenko out in 5 rounds or less, critics will say he took on an easy opponent.

Don’t Underestimate Derevianchenko:

Derevianchenko has taken on top  competition with his only loss coming to Brooklyn’s Daniel Jacobs On October 27th, 2018 at MSG.

Did Derevianchenko Really lose to Jacobs?

I don’t believe Derevianchenko deserved to get the first blemish on his record the night of October 27 at Madison Square Garden. Sitting ringside, I saw  Jacobs jump on Derevianchenko in round one and catching Derevianchenko with a shot on top of the head that hurt Derevianchenko by taking his equilibrium away and sending him to the canvas.

After that, I saw Derevianchenko settle down &  simply outbox Jacobs, Derevianchenko was the aggressor and the busier fighter for most of the fight. I thought he landed the cleaner punches and won 8 or 9 rounds. One Judge had Derevianchenko winning 7 of the 12 rounds and HBO’s Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr. all thought an upset could be announced at the scorecards were announced.

Daniel Jacobs to his credit acknowledge that it was a very very close fight and that Sergiy  Derevianchenko is as good as anyone in the middleweight division.

So why is GGG vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko getting no respect?

I can tell you this will be a terrific boxing match.
