Gennady Golovkin signed a huge 3 year / six fight deal with to the  streaming app service -DAZN.  After much silence from GGG, GGG  is back in the spotlight and the boxing world is looking forward to his return to the ring after a tough fight against Canelo Alvarez who edged Golovkin for a decision win back in September 2018.

Golovkin will  be scheduled to fight twice a year and as part of the deal, Golovkin’s promotional Company;  GGG Promotions will promote two fight nights in 2020 and again in 2021. GGG is planning to return to the ring in early summer and wants to continue to be the Gold Standard in the Middleweight Division.

The Big money fight that Everybody ( fans, network and press) wants is GGG vs Canelo 3. Canelo has to get by a tough Daniel Jacobs first and then agree to a third fight; many believe Canelo will draw the process out as long as possible or play with the fight weight. The higher he sets the catch weight, the better for Canelo at this point of both fighters careers. This theory does not hold water for the Jacobs fight as Jacobs is naturally the bigger man, so Canelo made sure to have it at 160 and not an ounce more.

GGG had big offers from Showtime and ESPN but  ultimately decided to go with DAZN : “I was a free agent. I thought DAZN gave the best platform, the best opportunities to extend my own ideas”. GGG also said, “I also think that DAZN will be the best home for all boxers in the future.”

GGG talking about his new contract, “I hope I can do the six fights, I feel great right now, but I hope I do the six fights. After the six fights, we’ll see what else I can do.”
