After Losing his Middleweight IBF belt at the negotiating table, Boxing Super Star Canelo Alvarez is in advanced talks to face undefeated middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade.

The WBC created a special title for their beloved champion / Alvarez last month. The Franchise Champion Title was created by the WBC for Alvarez which basically allows Canelo Alvarez  complete freedom to do whatever  he wants whenever he wants and still hold the title as champion. The WBC Franchise champion is not bound to defend the title against anyone and is also timeline free (Sounds like a rich kid getting special treatment).

The New Jersey-based IBF organization, didn’t want to cater to the special needs of boxing’s biggest star and simply stripped Alvarez of the title, much to the surprise of Alvarez and disappointment of Golden Boy Promotions.

Canelo had already put his foot down refusing to give into fighting Triple G is a mega fight on September 14 and now DAZN who pays Canelo and GGG is the biggest September loser in the Boxing industry.

Golden Boys pinch on the wallet is turning of many top boxers, managers & promoters. The latest targeted boxer to potentially face Canelo is  Providence Rhode Island native, champion Demetrius Andrade. Andrade is a young, fast undefeated champion with a good team behind him.

Andrade is very brash and thinks he’s the best thing since sliced bread and also believes the top middleweights are trying to avoid fighting him. Some believe that Andrade’s  promoter, Matchroom Boxings Eddie Hearn has given Andrade a good road to follow, giving him a winnable schedule, while still making the young buck a champion, a headline and good money.

Demetrius Andrade’s Issues In Fighting Canelo

1. Andrade thought Jacobs did enough to beat Canelo by running and being inactive. NOT TRUE- Daniel Jacobs had opportunities but did not perform resulting in a lackluster fight.

2. Andrade played defense and hard to catch in RI against a B+ level fighter in Maciej Sulecki. If he can’t stand up to Sulecki, how is he going to trade with the much better, prime Canelo? He’s not, he’s going to run and complain that he outboxed Canelo by doing a poor mans version of Mayweather.

3. Andrade’s Team knows Canelo is a tough out, the plan is to box, run and try to be Floyd Mayweather.   Andrade’s father / head trainer knows that Canelo is the real deal and will want his son to keep running all night, that doesn’t sound like an exciting fight to me.

4. Canelo is at a different level and claims he wants to fight the best, but doesn’t want one of the best/ most exciting boxers in our generation. GGG

DAZN is begging for the fight, everyone wants the Showdown, but Canelo is mad because GGG called him a cheater after Canelo was forced to cancel their May 2018 fight. Canelo wants respect, how about the respect of telling GGG the fight was off before Gennadiy Golovkin found out at the same time the public did.

Conclusion: Andrade won’t get the points decision he needs when fighting Canelo. I see Canelo winning an easy points decision and the fight being half as entertaining as when  Canelo fought Jacobs. To bad, everyone will make Money, but the public and fans lose out on what could have been a great third fight between Canelo & GGG.
